New York, NY — Carl Fischer Music is excited to make Howard Hanson’s Sonata in A minor for Piano, op. 11 (P3322 — $14.95) available to the world. For almost eighty years, only incomplete manuscripts of this work were known to exist, but in 2007, the Eastman School of Music acquired a manuscript that had been in private hands since Howard Hanson’s widow’s death in 1996. The final movement of the Sonata was arranged by Hanson for concert band under the title "Triumphal Ode,” and was considered the first symphonic-type of composition for band by an American composer. A welcome addition to the library of music by a seminal American composer. For the intermediate to advanced player.
